Laser Hair Removal: Your Guide to Lasting Hair-Free Skin

4 Minute Read:
Shaving and waxing can be a chore, especially in areas of particularly dense or coarse hair. Luckily, there’s laser hair removal. You may have heard of this popular procedure; if so, you might wonder if it’s for you.
Today we discuss the process of laser hair removal, what tools are used to achieve your desired results, how many treatments laser hair removal takes, and more.
Why Do People Get Laser Hair Removal?
Daily shaving or frequent waxing are not only time-consuming, but they can wreak havoc on sensitive skin.
For some, razor stubble or hair grown out for waxing can be distressing. For instance, women may be embarrassed by facial hair or coarse hair along the bikini line. Or men may want to remove hair on their chests or back.
For such individuals, laser hair removal — which permanently reduces hair growth over time and a series of treatments — can be beneficial.
What Is the Best Technology for Laser Hair Removal?
There are different hair remover tools and technologies on the market. While they may seem convenient, we don’t recommend trying at-home hair removal tools, which may injure the skin or not work. Instead, a skilled specialist will have access to the latest in hair removal technology.
At Aspire MediSpa, we use the GentleMax Pro Plus®, a leader in laser hair removal technology.
How Does GentleMax Pro Plus® Work?
The words “laser hair removal” can seem intimidating at first. Many patients worry that the process will be harsh or it will hurt. (More on comfort during the procedure in a moment.)
GentleMax ProPlus® works by producing pulsed laser energy to destroy the hair follicle so that new hair will either grow much finer and slower or will not grow back at all.
Most patients need between three and six treatments to see permanent hair reduction.
Why Do I Need More Than One Treatment Session?
Hair growth occurs in cycles. Even in the same area, such as the legs, underarms, legs, back, chest, face, or bikini lines, hair grows at different rates.
Because of this, laser hair reduction must be performed to treat the area at various growth cycles.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Individuals with light to medium skin and darker hair are usually the best candidates for laser hair removal, as darker skin has a higher risk of pigmentation change from repeated sessions.
Your laser hair removal expert will assess your skin to let you know what results you can expect.
Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Some patients report a tingling or stinging sensation during and for an hour or two after treatment.
To help reduce this possibility, our office uses a patented dynamic cooling device (DCD) before and immediately after GentleMax ProPlus®. This helps “cool down” the area and reduces unwanted sensations.
At our office, we make laser hair removal as painless and easy as possible.
What Can You Expect From Your Hair Removal Treatment?
When you make an appointment at our office:
- You will consult with us to determine whether you’re the right candidate for laser hair removal.
- We will discuss your goals and what you can realistically expect from laser hair removal.
- The GentleMax ProPlus® is applied to a small area at a time.
- After each area is treated, the DCD is used again to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
After Your MediSpa Appointment
After your laser hair removal treatment at Aspire MediSpa, you may feel warmth, tingling, or stinging in the area for up to two hours.
You can go back to your daily activities immediately. However, please wear sunscreen or cover the area with clothing following each treatment you receive.
How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?
The total cost of your treatment will depend on the following:
- The size of the area where you need hair removed
- The number of areas you will be treated
- The total number of sessions it takes to remove hair permanently
Be sure to ask our experts at your consultation how many treatments you can expect to need for permanent hair reduction or removal.
